NORTHWOOD ACOUSTIC GUITARS

The Northwood Dreadnought

The Northwood Dreadnought (shown at right) delivers the classic sound popular in bluegrass and country music.

The large body volume emphasizes the lower frequencies while the lively top gives the high-end a nice shimmer. A clear vinyl pickguard is standard equipment on all Northwoods, but black or tortoise-shell is also available.

The Florentine Cutaway

At left, the Florentine Cutaway is all about clean mitring. The side joints and the binding/purfling connections at the horn and heel are meticulously fitted to ensure integrity and continuity.

At Northwood, we believe in emphasizing tight, clean joinery in order to make a guitar with a difference.

Northwood Venetian Cutaway

The Venetian Cutaway’s tight lines push the limits of hand side-bending. Using the Mini-Jumbo body platform for our cutaway models allows easy access to the upper registers without sacrificing fullness of sound. Every Northwood fretboard is trued and fretted after the neck is fitted and glued into the body’s dovetail joint, giving even action all the way to the twentieth fret.

The Northwood Mini-Jumbo

The Northwood Mini-Jumbo delivers a deep, room filling sound. Similar to a J-200 but slightly smaller in size, this guitar sounds very big but retains a clear sweet high end.

Our best-selling guitar, the Rosewood/Englemann Spruce combination is second to none. Quartersawn Ebony is used for the fingerboard and bridge on all Northwood guitars. '80' series instruments also receive a bound Ebony headstock overlay.

The Orchestra Model

The Orchestra Model has a wonderful, even range of tone well suited for recording. Fingerstyle guitarists will find that its smaller dimensions give added mid-range definition to it's sound. Slightly shallower in depth, the OM is also very comfortable to play. The Northwood Orchestra Model uses the same 25 1/2" scale and 14 fret neck found on all Northwood models.
